Adjustable shade for outdoor living

A motorised louvred roof gives you control over the aluminium roof blades, allowing you to adjust the balance of sunlight, shade and ventilation. Open the louvres to let in more daylight or tilt them to soften direct sunshine while enjoying the open-air setting.

When closed, suitable systems provide overhead rain protection, with performance depending on the design, drainage and weather conditions. This flexibility can help you spend more time outdoors as conditions change.

A pergola designed around your space

Start with how you want to use the area. An outdoor dining table, a relaxed seating arrangement and a multipurpose terrace each need a different approach to positioning and dimensions. The location of support posts, access to the garden and the relationship with nearby doors and windows all matter.

Depending on the system and site, a louvred roof pergola may be freestanding or installed alongside the property. We can help you assess the options for a London courtyard, garden patio or larger terrace, considering both appearance and practical requirements.

Lighting, heating and optional side screens

Depending on the chosen model, optional LED lighting, infrared heaters and side screens can make the space more comfortable and extend its use into the evening. Screens may also help manage low-angle sunlight and provide additional privacy.

It is worth discussing these features at the start, so the design and electrical requirements can be considered together. Our team can explain the available options and help you prioritise those that suit your plans.

Plan your louvred roof project with Abbotts

For a useful starting point, send us photographs of the area, approximate dimensions and a brief description of how you would like to use it. We can discuss the possibilities before a detailed site survey establishes the installation requirements.

Abbott's advice

Where to Use

Louvred roof pergolas can create defined dining and seating areas on patios, in gardens and on suitable terraces. Positioning should consider the sun’s direction, privacy, access and the effect on daylight entering adjoining rooms. Freestanding and building-adjacent options depend on the selected system and the site.

Fitting and Installation

A detailed site survey is essential before specifying a louvred roof pergola. Ground conditions, suitable foundations or fixings, drainage, access and electrical provision all need assessment. Our team can advise on professional installation and the preparation required for your chosen system. Any necessary permissions should be confirmed before work begins.

We bought Luxaflex blinds for our flat from Abbotts, and I'm so glad we went to them rather than buying online. Their measuring and installation service was first class, and over the years we have had a few parts break (from usual wear and tear) which Abbotts have provided excellent service in fixing. I would thoroughly recommend them.

Having had poor service from a well-know, reputable store, I was anxious to find a company that had expert knowledge and attention to detail for a job that was going to cost me a lot of money. Local, long-standing, independent companies are so rare these days and to have found one that provides faultless, expert service like Abbott's does was amazing! I don't usually write reviews, but had to in this case because I was so blown away by this company. I will be going back for more!

I would highly recommend Abbott's to anyone looking for professional guidance and quality window furnishings.

Great service, nice showroom! All the people we talked to were incredibly helpful, and we had everything clarified and all questions answered very well. Installation of our blinds went very smoothly and even quicker than I expected after ordering and manufacturing was complete.
